Just took my new garmin 670 Nuvi to Italy. I loved it for driving around. Option for selecting truck keeps you off the smaller streets, which is nice because there are some very small windy roads in the mountains and in cities. You can also insert a waypoint to avoid or bypass certain areas. The only thing with this was I could only insert one waypoint which was a bit of a pain if there was a few places I wanted to visit on my way from place to place.
The maps are very up to date. Only a few new roads were not mapped. In the pedestrian mode, you can mark off where you parked your car or started your walk and then you can use it to wander a city. One problem I will note with the garmin nuvi 670 however is the slight uncertainty of which way to start, when walking. A compass would be a good feature to add. The battery life was pretty good when walking but it does run out, so be careful. Be sure to have the 12 volt charger for the car.
Overall, I would not go to Europe without it. I also use it extensively in the US, as I travel often.
